Charlotte's Wings

If you want to introduce Chaos into a household, get a puppy. Though I'm sure a small child will do the same... and for much longer, but I'll take the puppy.  Needless to say, Daenarys Stormborn has been taking up a LOT of my time, but.... I mean.... look at this face.

I have put some time in on Ms. Charlotte. The next of the unfinished minis on the list.  I've been doing a layering process on the wings. Accents with thinned paints, then shades. This image kind of gives you an idea.

So after about 8-10 layers of this kind of thing here's what I ended up with.....

Also put a base color down on all the carapace, which will be the next step. After that, nails and claws and on to the base.

Cheers Ya'll!

A post on the Ides.

OK, the holiday madness, family surguries, new animals and all the assorted craziness is over and life is almost back to normal.  Well at least until tomorrow, when this one arrives....

And her name shall be Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons. Or Dany for short.

In the meantime, this has happened.....

Task Force Jordan is done and soon to be mailed to the snowy hinterlands of New York. Here are some close ups of the last two tactical squads...

I should have a very happy 12 year old nephew, by all accounts... and he doesn't know they are coming (unless for some reason he's reading this blog......)  Hopefully, he and his buddies can start playing and learn how to have fun and not be WAAC power gamers. Well... he won't be with this army anyways.

Naturally, the next question is "What is in store for 2018, Oh glorious Boss of da Rednekkz?

WEeell'sir, I have an enormous project I have undertaken concerning my "professional" life and it will spill over onto these pages.  Mostly in some sort of gore and pus ridden glory. While I intend on whittling down my miniature stocks, I've also decided after a basic inventory, to rehab (where necessary) my oldest army- The Templars of DOOooom.  This will include short stories, background, maybe some fiction, comics "serious artwork and .... of course, miniatures.  Any completed miniatures might get a little touch up, but there are WAY more in progress that can be adapted.  So... hopefully, you'll enjoy MY take on the whole thing.  I'll be posting most of it here (esp. the miniatures), but there will be constant in progress shots from the workbench on my INSTAGRAM . so check that out , if you are an Instagram person. Some of it will be posted on MY WEBSITE as well, but there will be links from this blog.

In the short term, those filthy blue loyalists are off my workbench, so of course... I HAD to start working on The Pox Joker.  Here he is, so far....

Lots of details to go, but I'm definitely working off the "Dark Night" Heath Ledger Joker for mood and colors (of wardrobe).  Also began work on this young ladies underwings....

But yes, everything's coming up Nurgly!!! One concept I've always loved was the Garden of Nurgle idea, though I've envisioned it in the stories I'm working on as more of a forest ... and not really of Nurgle, but with very similar themes.  More details will unfold as the project marches on, but you'll definitely start seeing parts from things like Dryads and trees and such.  The one hurdle I was having is the basing materials I've been using, but ... as often happens, my wife suggested "What if your guys are infecting this dry place?"  -the dusty world of Crixus where I have set my armies up.  So in the retrofits, I'm going to try to show this "nuglewood" infecting the landscape.

Overall, I think 2018 is looking like a fun and productive year and I want to thank you for coming along for the ride!

Cheers Ya'll!
