Back in the Saddle again..

Its 1 week after shoulder surgery and I've finally made it back to the art room...

I'll have to admit I probably should have spent less time in there, but I got hung up in my history podcasts and really wanted to finish the undercoat drybrushing on all the Raptors.  I'm paying for it a bit this morning, so I'll make sure I take more meaningful breaks.  Pretty much can only hold minis for painting at the moment, since the desk is a bit high to lift my arm, so I won't be doing any building for a week or so. That should be perfect for getting this part of the ETL done. And what did I do?  Well, here's a hint....

The endless highlight drybrushing of GW Screaming Skull over all the olive good ness.

After this step a wash of GW Althonian Camoshade. Then I'll go in with washed to bring out the details. Paint the grey eagles, then its decal time. Then weathering and basing.

Here's a comparison shot of before and after.

This creepy little bastard also made it to the desk....

"B-but what evil would you create with a fantasy octopus?"   You ask. I'll just leave the last pic as a clue to what I might be working on next......

  1. I love your Raptors scheme. I think I've said that before. And the creepy octonid looks like a contender to take on that flyin' spider.

Good news your Op went OK - just try not to feck your arm for good before you recover !

  2. Yeah, I'm doing my best to take it easy, though I've never been good at taking it easy. :) I'm excited about the Genestealer Cult project. I'll probably do some sketches, but I'm definitely going to have some fun with it. Probably go in a Lovecrafty/Nurgle's Garden direction... but with Tyranids. It should be a crazy mess. :)
